Have just returned from my Australian sea lion trip. Absolutely beautiful animals, and incredibly friendly. As soon as I can, I'll post a write-up of all the fun, as well as of some of the interesting things I learned about these endangered animals. I'm still thinking through the implications of the things I witnessed, experienced and learned, but suffice it to say that the story of these playful pinnipeds is a microcosm of the challenges we face in finding ways to ensure long-term sustainability of the world around us. In the meantime, here's a portrait of one of my new friends.
