The title of my next newsletter is Zombie Sex Slaves.
I have a few more bits to polish up, but I’m sure I will send it out in the next day or so.
I started this newsletter format at the end of last year, as part of a resolution to write more in 2019. I wasn’t quite sure at the time how things would go or exactly what I would be doing with the newsletter, but in the time-honored tradition of act first, think later, I jumped into it and started writing.
My vision for the format and purpose of my newsletter has crystallized during the first half of this year. I now see that my periodic emails will be less of a traditional newsletter, and more the occasional long-form story. Part entertainment, part narrative about the natural world.
Earlier in the year, I wrote about sharks beaching themselves to hunt, deciphering a humpback whale mystery, and an experience I had teaching kids and learning about myself in the process.
This next newsletter is about zombification. Not the Hollywood CG type, but real-life control over one organism by another. It is a lot more common than you might think, and odds are, if you’ve spent any time in nature, you’ve come across examples but just didn’t realize it. Real life zombies are also way more cool than anything fictional, and sometimes super gross too (which, for me at least, qualifies as way cool).
I am intentionally not posting this with a photo, because I’ve come to realize that many people just click Like and move on, without reading even a few words of text accompanying a given image. Clearly, people who do not read will not be interested in a newsletter with a lot of words (there are pictures too of course!).
If you enjoy reading and want to possibly learn something new, here is the sign-up link for my newsletter.
You can, of course, opt out any time you’d like.
